Adapting to change in product design

We live with change, it is part of life and in the design of products it can not be less. No sector can remain immobile in the face of this. Product designers must bet on innovation, improving to be creative opening our mind to new possibilities.

Keep curiosity alive in every project. Do not follow the same path as the rest and explore new ways. This will lead you to new skills that will be important and will amplify your point of view.

The design tools are being renewed very soon. Be agile and flexible. Everything is affected, not only the tools, but also the internal functions of the companies. Only designers who know how to adapt to change will be able to survive.

Although everything is susceptible to change, teamwork will always be key.  The ways we communicate will change thanks to technological advances, but in essence we will collaborate together to create innovative designs.

Not only you and your company will be affected, but also your customers. Think about it and focus on understanding what is also happening to them so that you can offer them the solution they need.

No one knows what the future will bring, but we have to be able to admit that change is inescapable in a world as dynamic as that of product design. When facing a change, set aside what you cannot control, accept it and focus on organizing for the future.|Not only you and your company will be affected, but also your customers. Product redesign that traveled to Taiwan

Product redesign that traveled to Taiwan

In the unforgettable year 2020, on September 22, the presentation of the series Arcos by Mario Sandoval took place in Taiwan.

We have photos of the event, do you know what product redesigned by the strategic firm IDEA appears?

That’s right. It is one of their star products, the Arcos table knife, for which we were commissioned to redesign.
For this project we started by deciphering the action of buying the knife and all the variables that came into play in that decision. In this way we obtained a global vision of the field of action, to begin to develop a product that responded to the needs discovered.
We work on shapes, colors, materials and processes to adapt to the needs discovered in the previous phases and create a new line of knives for domestic and multipurpose use with a modern and differential design.
After determining the manufacturing process and finishing of the knife, Arcos was ready for serial production.

As you can see, the Taiwanese did not leave empty-handed. Arcos gave them a pack that included our common project, the renewed table knife.

  • Chorei: Japanese business routine for a productive day

Chorei: Japanese business routine for a productive day

Chorei is a Japanese word used for a morning gathering held standing up. Everyone on the team must participate for a while before starting the day.

    Chorei

It is a traditional practice. Its duration is quite short, usually extending to 15 minutes. However, it is a very effective way to keep everyone motivated and aligned with the same vision every day.

Unlike other meetings that usually take place in companies, this one is effective enough to boost everyone’s energy, positivity and focus on common goals.

This practice helps to know how the projects are going, share the problems that have been found and plan the day. Their attendance is mandatory for the entire team.

The purpose is to improve results by encouraging unity and teamwork. In these meetings everyone can express themselves and interact.
Do you want to make your own Chorei? You will have to be punctual. Do not exceed 10 or 15 minutes. Confirm that everyone is motivated. Be consistent.

Here are some ideas for you to organize an effective Chorei:

    -Propose a brainstorming session.
-Schedule a few minutes of meditation.
-Choose a different person every day who shares your goals.
-Propose a leader who inspires the team.
-Encourage the team to share their interests.
-Shows in a graph the progress of a common project.

At Idea Strategic Firm we are strong advocates of these routines. It’s a perfect example of how to get the team inspired to contribute to the company’s goals. As far as possible, we try to apply practices like this, the results of which are very beneficial.

Why not try adding a new approach to your team’s meetings to boost morale and productivity?|
